Business Tax Preparation: Do It Yourself

I hate the financial side of running a business and have always opted to have my business taxes done by a professional.  We'll I can tell you that for two of the years, I've had some real problems.

A few years back my taxes were really hammered by the tax preparer.  We had to have them all done over with a lot of added stress and in a couple days thanks to our procrastination.  I figured this was just a fluke and selected another preparer the next year.  We'll once again, my taxes were botched.  The information I gave the preparer and what was put on the form made little sense.  The reports I gave were all redone for the sake of organization I suppose, but the information was incorrect.  When I asked this person about it, there was no explanation, and I was told it would be corrected or amended, only to never have this done.

What I've learned is that if you truly want something done right, you have to do it yourself.  I am sure there are good tax preparer's out there, and we've never had a problem doing our personal taxes, knock on wood.  But I've had some really bad luck getting my business taxes done.  Running your own business is a great thing, but it has it's headaches too.  And at times you have to wear hats your not comfortable wearing, but I wouldn't trade it for my old corporate job in a million years!
