    Annual business expo draws hundreds

It was an exercise in regionalization as three area chambers of commerce came together for the annual B2B Expo, held this year at Lakeside Inn, Limerick.

The Perkiomen Valley, Phoenixville and Spring-Ford chambers coordinated the event, which saw nearly 60 businesses displaying their goods and services. “Quite a few hundred” people visited the four-hour affair, according to Amy Purcell, director of public relations for the PV Chamber.

“Participation has been great,” she remarked. “It’s a great opportunity for our members to regionalize when three chambers get together.”

As two exhibitors discussed their businesses, they laughingly commented on the regional nature. One noted that when asked where her business was, she replied, “Main Street.” But that answer wasn’t sufficient, as at least half a dozen Main Streets could have been represented at the expo. In fact, while her business was on Main Street in Collegeville, her fellow exhibitor is located on Main Street in Royersford.

The expo featured a wide range of businesses, from banks and insurance companies to website design, advertising, signs, shipping and business equipment. Also represented were such companies as basement waterproofing, carpeting, window treatments, cleaning services, express oil change and glass.

On a more personal note, several chiropractors and an orthodontist were present, as well as gift baskets, jewelry and chocolate. On the sports and fitness side of life were a camp, a Y and a golf club. The wide range of services continued with a college, an assisted living facility and a funeral home.

“It was a very good show,” commented Phil White, of Sign-A-Rama, Royersford, one of the business sponsors of the expo. He noted that many local businesses participated, and relationships were formed.

The combined expo has showcased regional businesses for about seven years now, with previous locations including the cafeteria at Wyeth and the Collegeville Inn. This was the first time for the expo to be held at Lakeside.
