Upper Providence home wins Holiday Lights Contest

Congratulations to the winner of our Holiday Lights Contest!

The winning home is at 645 Old State Road in Upper Providence Township. The house was nominated by Sherri S. (otherwise known to City Sleuthers as weezie7291). Both the winning homeowners and the nominator will receive $50 prizes.

Homeowner Dana Luteman noted that her husband, Paul, “does all the work.” The home featured a variety of large inflatables, light sculptures of all sizes, even on the roof, tiny snowmen and Santas, lighted candy canes, palm trees and more. The glow could be seen from at least a quarter-mile away.

Dana said Paul starts decorating right before Thanksgiving every year by going out and buying something new to add to the holiday décor. This year it took him a week to put everything up, she said.

“He just loves Christmas,” she remarked.

“The first time he ever put lights up was the Christmas Eve we got engaged,” Dana recalled. That year, Paul spelled out the words “marry me” in lights on the tennis courts of their apartment building.

The couple has been married for 12 years and has two sons, Jonah, 10, and Xavier, 4. Paul works in tile and Dana is a homemaker.

They have lived in their Upper Providence home for five and a half years and previously resided on Eighth Avenue in Collegeville.

Dana noted they just had new electrical service installed, so probably they’ll have even more decorations next year.
