The Spring-Ford SNAP Committee meets the second Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. in the Spring-Ford High School cafeteria.
The goal of SNAP – Students Need an Alternate Party – is to provide a safe, alcohol and drug-free environment for students after their high school prom. The SNAP committee is dedicated to saving lives and providing teenagers a constructive alternative to the often fatal night.
According to SNAP, one Internet source indicated that in 2005, 676 young people under the age of 21 died in alcohol-related traffic accidents nationwide in the period between prom night and graduation.
“Prom night is something that every community looks forward to for their high school students,” said SNAP chairman Debbie Landis. “While prom night can be filled with wonderful memories, it can also be the most dangerous night in a young person’s life. That is especially true when alcohol and driving are combined.”
To make the post-prom party successful, SNAP welcomes all volunteers and donations. For information, call Landis, 610-792-3733.
