    Read a good book lately?

Both the Royersford and Spring City public libraries are offering a summer reading program for adults.

At Spring City Free Public Library, adults are encouraged to “Stretch Your Reading Horizons” in the library’s first adult summer reading challenge. Adults, age 18 and over, have the opportunity to explore book categories new to their usual reading selections.

After registering for the challenge at the circulation desk and receiving a challenge form, participants should read at least one book from three book categories that are new to the reader. Suggested areas include science fiction, nonfiction, biography, romance, historical fiction, award winners, mysteries and personal development.

When three books are finished, participants record their information and choose a rating and recommendation for each selection. Bring the challenge form to the circulation desk for a raffle ticket to enter the challenge prize drawing at the end of August.

For each three books read, participants receive one raffle ticket. The challenge continues through Aug. 31.

At the end of the challenge, turn in the challenge form to the circulation desk. Staff will collate the information on the forms and post a compilation of the books read in each category and their ratings.

For more information and registration stop by the circulation desk. Spring City Library is at 245 Broad St. For information call 610-948-4130 or visit www.ccls.org.

At the Royersford Free Public Library, adults are invited to “Catch the Reading Bug.” Every book read earns a chance at a prize raffle.

Register at the library or online at www.mc-npl.org and choose the Royersford Branch. After reading a book, fill out an entry form which includes a brief review and a rating. Place entry forms in the raffle bowl at the library to be entered in weekly prize drawings which begin June 27 and continue through Aug. 14.

Additional adult programs at the Royersford Library include an Apprise Medicare counselor who is available to answer questions for caregivers and seniors on Fridays, June 13, July 11 and Aug. 8. The free program begins at 10 a.m.

Also, an adult book discussion group will meet Wednesdays, July 16 and Aug. 20, 10:30 a.m. The book for July is Under the Banner of Heaven, by Jon Krakauer, and for August, The Double Bind, by Chris Bohjalian.

The library is at 200 S. Fourth Ave., Royersford. Library hours are Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information call 610-948-7277 or visit the library website at www.mc-npl.org.
