Spring-Ford School District took a proactive approach this spring to recruiting top-notch teachers by inviting candidates to the high school to meet and greet administrators as well as other teachers.
About 373 candidates attended the secondary job fair, held in the high school cafeteria and auxiliary gym. The candidates were applying for a variety of teaching posts as well as guidance counselor positions. The high school’s increasing student enrollment has caused a need for additional teachers.
“We are looking to fill over 20 secondary positions, and we felt this would be a great way to meet prospective teachers,” Principal Patrick Nugent said. “Often, we rely on online services to seek out job candidates, but this fair gives us a chance to meet people face-to-face and also allows the job-seekers themselves to get a real feel for what Spring-Ford is all about.”
Nugent was joined at the fair by Superintendent Dr. Marsha Hurda, assistant superintendent Dr. Kenneth Donahue and Director of Human Resources Leticia Rodriguez, as well as by the high school’s various department heads.
