Spring-Ford High School seniors shared the spotlight last spring with the teachers, coaches and administrators who made a difference in their lives at the third annual Senior Impact Awards ceremony, held at Limerick Golf Club.
At the ceremony, which was sponsored by Univest, 73 adults were honored by the students who nominated them. Among them were teachers, coaches, nurses and other Spring-Ford School District employees. The event was an opportunity for students to thank their mentors and tell them just how important they have been in their lives.
More than 100 seniors submitted nominations this year. On the nomination form, the students were encouraged to describe in 50 words or less what the nominee did to make a positive impact in the students’ lives. Seniors were allowed to nominate any adult previously or presently associated with the school district. The students who submitted nominations also attended the ceremony and sat with the person they nominated.
The Senior Impact Awards began three years ago and has grown in popularity. The emotional celebration is a night that seniors cherish as they prepare to move on to a new chapter in their lives. It is also special for the nominees.
“It’s not always easy to know whether one is having a positive effect in the classroom or on the playing field, but receiving a Senior Impact Award leaves no doubt, said Dr. Leticia Rodriguez, Spring-Ford’s director of human resources. “And even though the award is given to the adults, the students benefit as well, since they now have an outlet through which they can express their appreciation to those who have made a difference in their lives.”
