Spring-Ford Intermediate School sixth-graders teamed up last spring to thank troops serving in Iraq by collecting food, toiletries and other item. The students also recorded messages of thanks on a DVD to be sent and viewed overseas.

Eight classes that made up the Trailblazer Team joined together to support Major John Doran, father of Trailblazer member Jarred Doran. The students collected food, DVDs and personal items to send to the troops in Major Doran’s division. They packed up nine boxes of goodies to send overseas.

Each class also created a message, cheer, song or poem to be recorded onto a DVD that was sent along with the packages. A banner saying “Thanks for being our hero” hung behind the students as they recorded their messages.
