Camp Invention is coming to the Spring-Ford School District this summer. Children entering first through sixth grades are invited to attend the program, to be held at Brooke Elementary School, 339 N. Lewis Road, Royersford, June 28 to July 1.
This year’s program is Innovate, featuring five modules led by qualified local educators and full of hands-on activities. Children will participate in all modules each day.
In Power’d, children build a motorized creature in a secret lab. They will learn about alternative sources of energy while helping a mysterious scientist harness the power of nature.
In Hatched, the Hatched online virtual world is disappearing. Children will help rebuild the Hatched world and become an entrepreneur in the avatar marketplace.
SMArt: Science, Math & Art will explore what soap bubbles, honeycombs and lightning bolts all have in common. Children will discover the fun side of math with tessellations and fractals in the Pattern Kingdom.
I Can Invent III allows children to take apart a broken machine and see what’s inside. Younger children will create fantasy inventions, while older groups will work on a team Rube Goldberg challenge that creates a “mini-explosion.”
In Global Games, children will explore cultures from around the world by discovering the link between ancient games and those we play today. Then they will add their own twist and play.
Space is limited. Registration is $210 per child, with a $25 discount if registered by March 31.
