Spring City has been left out while Royersford becomes a part of the happening scenerio. In years past I was more for land preservation in the Spring City area than I am today only because the countryside that used to be no longer really exists. While I applaud the decision by the people in the area who do not want to see another Wal-Mart invade, because really, why do we need another Wal-Mart or any other clothing store? Clothing stores are a dime a dozen in the area.
What Spring City needs is something different that the other towns in the area don't have. I'm not saying I have the answer, but perhaps ideas from readers could come in with some suggestions.
Manufacturing is always a good thing as long as it doesn't pollute much. A huge Park with Pavillions and a modern indoor meeting house could be a draw just as Macungie uses their park for events. A mega center with restaraunts surrounding an activity/ community building with the most modern of utilities/facilities. My hope would be that this building would be used as an outreach for youth WITH
Christian values. I would hope also for a contemporary church building with a contemporary charismatic following because my neoconservative baptist fundamentalists, God is not fundamental, and I doubt that He's happy with the box that many of the preachers (in this area especially) try to contain Him in. But I don't want to go off on that tangent here.
Perhaps a stadium or structure like the one in Reading that is the Sovereign Center without the influence of the Jehovah's Witnesses and the Masons.
(Oops i did it again - Brittney) While Spring City is not a big town, it could achieve a major role in the area because in today's society, the whole region is one big conglomerate that feeds upon transportation and the freedoms we enjoy in being able to travel. The key of course would be in getting the attractions to utilize the complex.

I agree that some kind of community center would be good. Spring City seems (or maybe IS) so depressed. Question is, would Main Street be revitalized by some big draw, or would the big draw be the revitalization on Main Street?
Your post makes me think of the Spring Valley YMCA that just went up (Limerick, yes?) as well as the "moviechurch", both outside of Spring City.
I went to a service at the moviechurch and didn't find it to my liking.
I am curious about the box you claim many area preachers put God in, and whether you've witnessed many area preachers.

A financially depressed Spring City needs to closely examine how other small towns are seeing a revitalization. Main St., Spring City would be wise to continue on in the direction of a face lift on the old structures, that said, most likely, any real attraction would probably be outside the immediate town.
I too visited the "movie church" and didn't find it to my liking. I suppose for those who are too busy for God will find the fast services to their liking.
The bigger problem that I had with it was the fact that their was no audience participation. I'm not used to that. It seems the people in this area still have the religious mentality that you do not worship in a manner that is an outward expression of how you feel about God, but rather just stay in your seats and watch the "show". I think that will soon change though, the Holy Spirit is taking over Pennsylvania regardless- it's just surprising though that the most fervent worshippers are the country folk from western Pa., but the shift is happening.
City folk are just going to have to catch up.
Christian Spring City residents should wake up every morning and proclaim a "breaking of the poverty mentality over their lives and claim the blessings and prosperity that Father God has for them. He's rich."

Would active adult homes be an asset? Bring residents into town who want to walk, and have some $$$, while not adding anyone to school system.
Are there any pieces of ground that would make sense?
I am thinking something like what Granor Price is building in Bensalem.
