Saturday, Sept. 29 is the first day of Archery season. Archers should be careful entering stands in the dark. Check for ticks when you get to your car and again when you get home.

Spring City used to hold some hot hunting grounds, but no longer as the developments have ruined all that was sacred. There are still pockets of country that are most likely posted, so hunters should ask for permission before hunting.

Today's hunter must go to the mountains to truely hunt. If you go, be aware that the drought in that area is worse north of us and care should be taken with campfires.

Archers be sure to check your equipment.
    Practice bow shooting.
Watch a good hunting video before you go and it'll warm you up.
It's not too late to scout, the woods are still thick with weeds, briars, leaves and trees...and ticks and mosquitoes, so wear some deep woods OFF.
Leave your beer at home or in a cooler if away from home, don't take it into the woods with you.
    Pick up your litter.

Don't go using the deer in rut, doe in heat lures now....wait a few weeks yet.

Peanut butter and jelly make good quiet snacks in the woods. Take plenty of water to drink and a catch container for urine. Don't get the two mixed up.

Don't go taking pot shots at squirrels when you're hunting for bucks...you could scare that big one off.

Don't hunt over pre placed food...the game warden could be watching...a hefty fine.

Enjoy yourself - bagging a deer is only part of the fun. I like the waiting, watching, stalking and calling. The dragging part is hard....don't call on me unless you know me.
